It adds up on 2hr+ rides. 3) Weight + distribution. The 890 feels much different than the 1290 on and off road. On road it turns in quicker and has better front end feel in the transitions and turns, but when you are in a straight line it takes a little more input than the 1290.
Touratech makes the KTM aluminum top box (and panniers), it's just a 38L Zera Pro. Yeah, gleaned that from reading some other threads. Looks like you can't key them to the KTM key but that isn't the end of the world. Though I think it is Zega. iirc Zera makes the cobalt-60 reactor fuel for the LC8. #6.
If I had bought a KTM 1290SA I would have compared it against the XP but since I bought the 1190 then that is were the comparison comes from. Anyway although I do not disagree with you my wallet does, the 1290SA as a second-hand bike would have come in around £3,000 more than the 1190. To deep for my pockets. #4.
The stock 1190 has a lovely swell of torque that starts at about 4K, and it has a pretty quick (immediate) throttle connection. To my mind it's those things that make the 1190 such a pleasure to ride on the road. I'd hate to spend a big wad of cash to lose that or shove all the power up at the top end. #16.
