As with most of what was coming out of Ford then it had the feel of very high quality with thick doors and pretty decent interior trim materials. The 72 Gran Torino with its big grille was a beautiful car in 1972. The GM stuff may look better to us in 2017 but the new Gran Torino got a lot of praise then.
