As you can see in the photo of the 2018 mazda CX-5 the head unit protrudes from the dashboard meaning standard replacement head units wonā€™t be possible. Alternatively, you can see in the 2009 Mazda 6 picture there is a dashboard area where a new wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto screen could fit.

2018 CX-3 Apple CarPlay/Android Auto retrofit. Looking into upgrading the infotainment on my wife's 2018 CX-3 GT. I do understand you can either pay for the dealership to do the upgrade (called around, lowest quote I got was $350+ tax), or buy the kit and do it yourself.
Per the dealership yesterday, CX50 is the only current model with wireless CarPlay. He said other models should start getting it by next summer. Only the 2023 Mazda CX-50 and I believe the MaDa MX-5 got it currently. Strangely, it Canada, the 2021 Mazda CX-5 also got it but then it got removed in the 2021.5 model year.
Mazda is continuing with its Apple CarPlay rollout after releasing support in its 2018 Mazda6 models, shown above, with the introduction of its 2019 CX-9 vehicle.. Apple CarPlay will come as standard in Touring, Touring Premium, Grand Touring, and Signature trims of the 2019 CX-9, thanks to the MAZDA CONNECT infotainment system with its eight-inch display.
